Week 8 Seminar: Case study, full toolkit
The shortlisted painting, argued with every instrument the semester has built, the week the dossier is due.
26 April 2027
Before the seminar#
Bring your dossier draft. This seminar is the last structured chance to stress-test it before submission.
In the seminar#
The seminar group picks one painting from week 7’s shortlist and works it in full, instrument by instrument, keeping a shared evidence log on the board. Where two instruments disagree, the group has to write down both readings rather than quietly picking the more convenient one.
Afterwards#
The dossier is due at the end of this week. It doesn’t have to use the seminar’s shared painting — your own dossier can argue a different disputed work entirely — but it does have to show the same discipline: every instrument you use, logged, including the ones that didn’t support your conclusion.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you have applied at least three distinct evidence types to the shortlisted painting and logged where they agreed and disagreed
- your dossier is submitted by the end of this week
