Week 12 Tutorial: Final Project Clinic
The last studio before submission — each student defends the one incentive their redesign refuses to remove
10 May 2027 incentive
Before the tutorial#
Bring a draft of your teardown and redesign, and be ready to defend the one incentive you deliberately chose not to design away.
In the tutorial#
Same courtroom shape as week 7’s studio: five minutes to state the redesign and its weakest defence, then two minutes of questions aimed specifically at that defence, not at the whole project. A redesign that removes every incentive, including the legitimate ones, hasn’t actually engaged with the semester’s argument.
Afterwards#
The final project is due at noon on the last day of teaching — see the assessment page for the full brief.
Who benefits when the design is bad?
The spec
What you bring to the tutorial. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you can name the one legitimate incentive (fraud prevention, throughput) your redesign keeps
- you can name who would resist your redesign, and why
- you give feedback to at least one other student's redesign aimed at its weakest defence
