Week 10 Tutorial: Typology workshop
Workshopping comparison axes for the same-algorithm-different-country essay in small groups
Graded checkpoint, checked live at the start of the session · Weight: 2%
Before the session#
Draft the paragraph you intend to open your comparative essay with. Name one axis — worker classification, minimum pay, or algorithmic transparency — and state, in that paragraph, why China, Australia, and the EU land differently on it, not merely that they do.
In the session#
Round-robin peer feedback in small groups, checking each draft against one question: does this axis explain a difference — why the EU’s Platform Work Directive presumes employment where Gupta v Uber Eats didn’t — or just list one? Revise between rounds.
Afterwards#
Your revised axis should be usable as the opening paragraph of the essay due next week.
The spec
What you bring to the session, checked live: a checkable minimum plus one item that's judged by discussion, not marked for prose.
- one paragraph naming a specific comparison axis across at least two of China, Australia, and the EU
- the paragraph states why the regimes differ on that axis, not only that they differ
- you have received feedback from at least two peers and revised the axis at least once based on it
