Marisol spent six years designing level geography and encounter pacing for mid-budget action games before moving to teaching, and still keeps a copy of every studio’s internal “why did the playtester quit here” report she was ever handed. She built this course around a specific frustration: most design-methodology teaching treats punishing difficulty as an aesthetic choice rather than a set of decisions that can be named, taught and reproduced.

She teaches most of the level-design and structural weeks and holds a weekly office hour for anything about the course’s shape — schedule, marking, or a workshop brief that isn’t landing. Consultation hours are posted on the course calendar and updated at the start of each teaching block; email for anything that can’t wait until the next one.
