Case 05 — The video workup
Working out which of this week's checks you can actually apply to a short clip, and which you can't
22 March 2027
Video and audio are where the gap between “there’s a check for that in principle” and “I can run that check on this specific ten-second clip, today” opens widest. This session is about learning to see that gap honestly instead of pretending it isn’t there.
Before the session#
Watch the two case studies linked from this week’s lecture before you arrive. You don’t need to have an opinion yet — you need to have watched them.
In the session#
Given a short clip and a claim about it, you’ll draft a checklist of every method covered so far that could plausibly apply, then actually attempt each one and mark it done, inconclusive, or not applicable with the tools available to you.
Afterwards#
The gap between your checklist and what you could actually complete is the most honest measurement of your current forensic reach. Expect it to be bigger than you’d like.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you have reviewed a short clip and listed which checks from this week you could actually apply to it, and which you couldn't
