Tutor running the weekly Set labs. Edited reality television for a decade, then watched the diffusion models learn to do his job worse but faster, and found that professionally interesting.

- Ask in the Set session first — most build problems are faster to show than to describe. Email if it genuinely cannot wait until the next one.
Idris cut reality television before it was fashionable to say a machine could do it, and now teaches the machine’s output the way he once taught continuity: by pointing at exactly where it breaks. His running interest is production, not theory — prompt chains as a directing discipline, the scheduling logic that turns one prompt into a channel, the specific moment a render goes from “uncanny” to “unusable” and what that moment is worth in render credits.
He runs the weekly Set lab, where the marking criterion is not “does this look real” but “does this commit to its own fakeness for the full runtime.” Students who ask him whether a wobble in a hand is a flaw or a feature get the same answer every time: it depends what week it is.
Reachable in session or by email; he reads neither faster than the other, so send whichever is easier to write.
