Week 12 Sim Session: Audit presentations and the live frequency check

Five minutes each on what you found, then the checks run in booked slots through the rest of the week

26 May 2027

Last session. Presentations in the morning, frequency checks in booked slots across the rest of the week.

Presentations

Five minutes each. Not a summary of your audit — the markers have read it. Three things:

  1. The domain, in one sentence.
  2. The one finding that surprised you.
  3. One way your proposal could make things worse.

The third is compulsory and it is the one the room learns from. A presentation that skips it will be asked for it, which is a worse use of your five minutes than including it.

No slides required. If you want them, one is plenty. The audits that present best are usually the ones read aloud from a page, which is worth noticing in a course about spoken protocols.

The question

Every student takes a position on week 12’s empty row, out loud:

Should there be a standard phrase for I believe this clearance is not valid?

Yes, no, or the gap is a category error — and one reason. You will disagree with each other and with at least one of us, since the three of us disagree.

There is no right answer and this is not marked. It is the last thing the course does, because it is the clearest case of the question the whole semester has been about: which problems are language problems.

The frequency check

Slots run through the rest of the week; you booked in week 10.

Ten minutes, both seats, at least one clearance you have not seen. It is holistic, and the assessment page says why in full. The short version: asking for a repeat counts in your favour, and a fluent readback of something you did not understand does not.

If your slot no longer works, rebook. Free, no reason needed, before the slot.

Afterwards

Marks and a paragraph within five working days.

If you want the reasoning behind your frequency check paragraph, ask for it and you will get it in full. That offer is not a formality — a holistic judgement that cannot be explained on request is just an opinion with a number attached, and you should hold us to it.

The spec

What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
