Email for anything about assessment or extensions. Bring arguments to the seminar rather than to my inbox — they go better out loud.

I came to this from philosophy of science, which is a slightly awkward place to run a course with this much biology in it. The reason it works is that the questions turn out to be the same ones. A desert ant integrating its own stride count has no independent reference against which to check the result, and neither does a research programme checking its own instruments.

I convene the course and teach weeks 1, 11 and 12. If you disagree with something in a lecture, say so in the seminar; the weeks where students have argued me out of a position are the ones I have rewritten most.

What to ask me

Assessment, extensions, and any case where you think a mark is wrong. Also anything about the evidence grades — if you think a claim on this site is graded wrongly, I would rather hear it than not, and it has happened.
