Week 4 Session: Crit: Your Resume, Annotated
Bring a resume — yours, a friend's, or a fictional one — and annotate every line that exists to compete rather than to inform
15 March 2027
Before the session#
Bring a resume, printed or on a laptop. Classify each line as “informs” or “competes,” and for every competing line, name the specific pool of other candidates it is positioned against.
In the session#
Swap annotated resumes for a peer competitive review. The room audits each other’s classifications — a line one person flags “informs” is frequently reclassified by someone else as “competes.”
Afterwards#
Retain the annotated version as a reference artefact. It functions as a useful benchmark when Assignment 1 asks you to justify why your own instance constitutes involution rather than ordinary effort.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- every annotated line identifies the specific competitive signal it is optimised to send, not merely its stated content
- you can identify at least one "value-add" line that would disappear entirely if competitive pressure were removed
