Week 12: Closing Lecture: Getting Off the Treadmill
What actually changes, and what doesn't, once you can name the loop you're standing on — a wrap-up, not a solution
24 May 2027
Outline#
- twelve weeks, one mechanism, different clothes: rice paddies, resumes, overtime, boardrooms, feeds, syllabi, exits, trainees, housing
- and one more instance, in case it wasn’t obvious: the language of this syllabus, which escalated in register through week 8 — not in length, as week 8’s own audit reported when it went looking — and says nothing fancy now
- naming a loop doesn’t dissolve it — what naming does actually buy you
- close: this course escalated for twelve weeks, in its workload and in its own prose, on purpose; what you do with that noticing is the only assignment that was never marked
