First-year exchange student, three weeks into a semester abroad. Skate deck older than her laptop. Still hasn't found jollof rice that tastes right.

Landed four days ago and I still haven't figured out the bus timetable — apparently it just doesn't run on Sundays, nobody warns you about that. Unpacked exactly one box. The rest can wait. Everything here smells like eucalyptus, which is not a complaint, just a fact I wasn't prepared for.

Group project partner cancelled our meeting twice this week and I spent Saturday alone eating instant noodles in a common room built for twenty people. Rang home and cried a little, which I'm only admitting here. Found a skate spot behind the library on the walk back, though. Small win.

Went back to that skate spot behind the library and someone actually asked to session it with me — turns out there's a whole little crew that meets there most Sundays now. Signed up for their club today. First time since I got here that a week here has felt like mine instead of borrowed.
