Built
No script, anywhere
The feed is read when the site is
built, never in your browser.
Nothing on any page here is a
script, which is the week's brief
and also why the clock cannot tick.
The grid is computed
The build breaks every line to forty
columns and counts the rows a page
needs, so the page is fitted to your
screen instead of scrolling off the
bottom of it. Teletext never
scrolled either.
When the feed is down
A committed snapshot is served
instead. The site rebuilds on every
push, so a feed that will not answer
would otherwise take it down: a
stale page is a teletext page, a
failed build is nothing at all.
The clock
It says when the feed was read, not
what time it is now. Times are
Canberra's, converted from a British
source.
