BEFORE IT STOPS (ANNOTATED) This is the same scene as scene.txt, with the director's two intent notes shown in the margin where they belong. Read scene.txt cold first — this version exists for after you've formed your own prediction. INT. MOTHER'S APARTMENT - KITCHEN - NIGHT Bare shelves. Boxes stacked by the door. NADIA (30s) presses tape across the flaps of the last box and sets it down on the table. Her phone lights up beside it: THEO CALLING. She looks at the screen. She does not move. DIRECTOR'S NOTE (margin, on the held look above): she has just taped the last box from her mother's kitchen shut, seconds before the phone lit up with Theo's name. The phone keeps ringing. Her hand drifts toward it. Stops. One ring left before it would go to voicemail. Her hand closes over the phone. She answers. NADIA Hey. DIRECTOR'S NOTE (margin, on this line): her hand has already pressed to accept the call before she's registered deciding to. Theo can hear her now. A beat. She waits for him to answer, phone pressed hard to her ear. FADE OUT.
