# The Last One - Rough-cut record

## Scope

- Both assemblies cover completed Shots 01-21.
- Shots 22-47 had no produced video and were not represented with placeholders.
- Original generated clips remained unchanged; all decisions were made in the edit.

## Assembly mapping

| Final shot | Source material |
|---:|---|
| 01 | Five-second opening black screen and emergency broadcast |
| 02-06 | Wasteland search sequence |
| 07-14 | Bunker return, map, meal and closed-door sequence |
| 15-16 | Combined door-opening and rider-reveal clip |
| 17-18 | Combined infection exchange clip |
| 19 | Three-year-old order exchange |
| 20 | Survivor questions the Rider |
| 21 | Survivor turns from the Rider to Lucky |

## Rough Cut v01

- Retained the full available duration of every clip.
- Used hard cuts only.
- Added no colour correction or dialogue repair.
- Exposed repeated dialogue at clip boundaries, especially "Who?" and the delivery number.

The purpose of v01 was diagnostic: it allowed continuity and rhythm problems to be found in sequence instead of guessed from individual clips.

## Rough Cut v02

- Added the female emergency broadcast and processed it as an old radio signal.
- Removed approximately 0.9 seconds from the beginning of Shot 13 to eliminate the repeated "Who?"
- Kept the first delivery-number line in Shot 14.
- Preserved the full picture for Shots 15-16 but replaced their repeated dialogue with environmental sound.
- Maintained hard cuts so that the comparison tested timing and dialogue continuity rather than transition style.

## Review question

When comparing the two cuts, do not ask only which version "feels better." Identify the exact repeated information removed by v02 and whether the revised pause still preserves the Survivor's confusion.
