Week 9 Lab: What Each Branch Kept
Temple ordinances, priesthood succession theory and the Book of Abraham compared across branches
19 April 2027
Before the lab#
Pick two branches studied so far and note one doctrine each kept from Nauvoo-era teaching, and one it dropped.
In the lab#
A side-by-side comparison: which branches kept temple endowment ordinances (Utah, yes; the Reorganization, no, for decades); which kept plural marriage (the FLDS, yes; almost everyone else, no); which kept the Book of Abraham as scripture. Doctrinal retention tracks the founding pivot each group made in weeks 2–8, not random drift — the pivot a group makes to justify its split is usually also the doctrine it defends hardest afterward.
Afterwards#
This comparison is useful groundwork for the final project’s map.
