Paired curation project

Curate the thrill of anticipation and the warmth of morning sunlight, each once with someone you know and once with someone you don't

Due: 29 March 2027 · Weight: 20%

The brief

Curate two experiences this course is naming for the first time here, not one of the twelve weekly practicums: the tight, buzzing thrill of anticipation right before something begins — a concert’s first note, a rollercoaster’s drop, stepping off a plane into an unfamiliar country — and the slow, radiating comfort of early morning sunlight on skin that was cold moments before.

Curate each one twice: once with someone you already know, and once with someone you don’t. “Someone” doesn’t have to mean exactly one person on either side — a known group and a single stranger, a close friend and an unfamiliar crowd, whatever actually fits the experience you’re staging — so long as you say explicitly which side is which.

The room this brief leaves is how you stage each of the four attempts. The judgement it tests is whether you can actually locate what the company changed, not just assert that it did.

What you submit

Four short dated accounts, one per curated attempt (anticipation with a known companion, anticipation with a stranger, sunlight with a known companion, sunlight with a stranger), submitted together as a single document. For each, name who was there and describe, in sensory and temporal detail, what specifically differed because of it.

The spec

The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
