Week 12 Lab: Closing crit
The last lab of the semester — short presentations of final project work in progress, judged against the persuasion framework from this week's lecture
20 May 2027
Before the lab#
Bring your final project in whatever state it’s actually in, and the co-writing log from week 10. There is no expectation of a finished project this week — the final project isn’t due until after the lab is over.
In the lab#
Five-minute slots, one per student: what you’re building, what’s working, what you’re worried about. No slide deck required — a working build or a draft, shown directly, is preferred over a summary of one.
The last question in every slot is the same, deliberately, following on from this week’s lecture: does your own project’s design make a suggestion anywhere, and if so, whose interest does that suggestion actually serve? Most people haven’t thought about their own work this way until asked directly, which is the point of asking in the room rather than leaving it for the write-up.
Afterwards#
Feedback from this session is meant to change what you submit, not just how you feel about it. If a specific piece of feedback changes your final project, that’s worth a line in your submission saying so.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you present a five-minute account of your final project's current state, including what isn't finished
- you name one suggestion you rejected during Week 10's co-writing exchange, and why, as the lecture asked
- you can point to at least one place your own final project makes a suggestion, and say honestly whose interest it serves
