Week 12 Dig: The exhibit
Presentation — your complete excavation presented as a museum exhibit, for an audience who has never seen the codebase.
10 May 2027
Before the dig#
Prepare your exhibit. Structure:
- The site: what the project was, who built it, when it was active
- The excavation: your stratigraphic timeline, inscriptions analysis, tool inventory, architecture diagram, documentation audit
- The diagnosis: cause of death, supported by evidence
- The ethics: should it be revived? Your position and your reasoning
- The restoration: what you brought back, what you changed, what you left alone
The presentation is 10 minutes. The written companion is 2000 words. Both are due at the end of this week.
In the session#
Present your exhibit. The audience asks questions — about your methods, your evidence, your ethical choices, and your restoration decisions.
The best exhibits make the audience care about a codebase they have never seen and will never use.
Afterwards#
Submit the written companion alongside your presentation materials. This is the final assessment.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- your exhibit tells the story of one codebase from construction to abandonment to partial restoration
- an audience member who has never seen the repo can follow the narrative
- you can answer questions about your methods, your evidence, and your ethical choices
