Weekly Misbehaviour

A running practice of small experiments — the toolbox every later assessment draws on

Due: Weeks 1–12, ongoing · Weight: 20%

This is a running practice, not a single deliverable. Each teaching week sets one small, rough experiment under the heading This Week’s Misbehaviour — something makeable in roughly 15–30 minutes with whatever materials are on hand. Together the twelve prompts build a personal Misbehaviour Toolbox that the three larger assessments draw on directly.

The brief

Try the week’s prompt, and keep what you made — even the ones that fail.

There is no quality bar here beyond a clear intention. A prompt that does not work is still useful evidence, as long as you can say what it was testing and why it did not land.

What you submit

Whatever the week’s prompt produces — a photo, a scan, a short note, a rearranged sequence — kept somewhere you can point to at review. Completing 10 of the 12 prompts is enough for the full mark; there is no separate rubric for quality.

The spec

The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.

  • at least 10 of the 12 weekly prompts are submitted
  • each entry names the one idea it was testing
  • an unsuccessful experiment still states its intention clearly

How it is marked

Marked on completion rather than polish. Submitting at least 10 of the 12 weekly prompts earns the full weight; an experiment that does not work can still count, provided the intention behind it is clear.
