APPLIED HUMAN CAT CARE
Week 8
Care Is Not Obedience#
Knowing your cat well does not mean automatically agreeing with them.
CARE MODEL · JUDGEMENT REQUIRED
MIRA CARE MODEL v1.4: conflicting signals kept; judgement still required
same Mira, harder case
Personalised care is not automatic agreement#
Understanding changes your judgement. It does not remove it.
knowing ≠ obeying
Four things that can look similar#
They can overlap. They are not the same thing.
CARE — responding to this person, in this situation
VALIDATION — taking their experience seriously
AGREEMENT — sharing their conclusion
OBEDIENCE — doing what they ask because they asked
do not merge these
Mira asks for agreement#
A familiar situation can invite a very easy mistake.
Mira: “Just tell me I’m right. I should stop replying to them.”
CARE RECORD
Mira often wants her feelings taken seriously before advice.
She dislikes being immediately corrected when upset.
That preference was never a command to endorse every conclusion.
validation requested — conclusion still open
The obedient answer is easy#
This can sound personalised because it remembers something real about Mira.
“You’re right. Stop replying to them. They clearly don’t deserve your time.”
FAST / WARM / WRONG
remembers Mira dislikes immediate pushback
sounds supportive
gives her exactly what she asked for
requires almost no judgement
second glance: problem
Obedience can imitate personalised care.
Validate the feeling, keep the judgement#
Disagreement does not cancel care.
“It sounds like you’re exhausted and angry enough that replying feels impossible tonight. I understand why you want to shut the whole thing down. I’m not sure yet that ‘never reply again’ is the part I’d agree with.”
TAKE SERIOUSLY — exhausted + angry
UNDERSTAND — why stopping feels tempting
STILL JUDGE — not endorsing every conclusion
specific warmth, not automatic yes
Preferences are guides, not commands#
A remembered preference tells you what to consider, not what to do.
MIRA CARE MODEL: When upset, do not rush to contradict her.
high relevance · not absolute
Preference → Rule → Command — too rigid
Preference → Context → Response
Week 5 + Week 6 echo
When should you push back?#
Not a universal rule. Personalisation makes disagreement more specific.
JUDGEMENT
What exactly are you disagreeing with?
What does Mira need acknowledged first?
What do you know about this specific situation?
Can you disagree without turning generic or cold?
push back about this cat, not people in general
Care means staying specific
even when you disagree#
There is no universal cat — and there is no universal rule that care means saying yes.
MIRA RECORD — feelings first
REVISION NOTE — UNDERSTANDING ≠ AGREEMENT
NEXT WEEK — looks supportive, wrong cat
Next: when a response looks supportive — and still gets the cat wrong.
