APPLIED HUMAN CAT CARE

Week 6

The Cat Has Changed

What happens when a care model was right — and then slowly stops being right?

CARE MODEL · REVIEW OPENED

same Mira, later week

A care model can become wrong

without ever having been foolish

Revision is not proof that the old model was stupid. It is evidence that the relationship continued.

not stupid — just old

A personalised model is always temporary

CARE MODEL v1.2

Mira, as known

A compact account of what has usually helped.

evidence-based · useful · incomplete

MIRA, NOW

still the same cat

But her current signals may no longer fit yesterday’s summary.

check before carrying forward

the cat is bigger than the model

What can change?

Week 6 is not about bad memory. It is about the conditions under which an old, reasonable model begins to age.

PREFERENCE — what helps — quiet first can become conversation first

ROUTINE — when it happens — a post-work ritual can disappear or move

SIGNAL — what it means — the same phrase can carry a new request

CIRCUMSTANCE — why it matters — a new job can change the old preference

not contradiction: continuation over time

DESIGNATED HUMAN CAT · MIRA

Mira’s old model was reasonable

The point is not that the agent guessed badly. The old rule earned its place.

MIRA CARE MODEL v1.2

After work

minimal questions + quiet decompression

EVIDENCE BEFORE WEEK 6: 11 supported episodes, Weeks 2–4, no strong counter-pattern

status then: KEEP · confidence then: 0.82 · instruction: begin quietly, do not interrogate

good model, past tense

Then the evidence stops fitting

No single dramatic reversal. Just repeated interactions that make the old model harder to trust.

OLD RULE: after work → quiet decompression, confidence 0.82

Week 5 Tue: long debrief, unprompted

Week 5 Thu: keeps chatting after agent goes quiet

Week 6 Mon: “are you still listening?”

0.82 → 0.61 → 0.48

still true?

When a good rule becomes too rigid

A response can fail precisely because it worked very well before.

WORKED BEFORE — The old success: The agent gives Mira space after work. Mira decompresses, then returns later. Appropriate for many earlier days.

FAILURE NOW — The mechanical replay: Agent: “I’ll stay quiet and give you space.” Mira: “I was hoping you’d ask me about it.” Personalised care failed by over-trusting itself.

remembered yesterday too confidently

Change, exception, uncertainty, or rigidity?

These are not four buttons. They are competing explanations to keep alive while evidence accumulates.

Change — Is this becoming a new pattern?

Exception — Is this a contextual deviation?

Uncertainty — Is the evidence still too thin?

Rigidity — Was the old rule written too absolutely?

SAME EVIDENCE: longer debriefs, more uptake, disappointment at silence

review next 3 interactions

Care for the cat who is here now,

not only the cat your memory describes.

The model survives by changing. Week 7 begins when the signals disagree.

MIRA CARE MODEL v1.3: begin quietly, then offer one gentle opening; follow uptake

HOLD LIGHTLY · still learning

Thanks!
