CATS HAVE HISTORY

What changes when one interaction becomes many — and the past begins to shape the next response?

HISTORY RECORD · FIRST PASS

APPLIED HUMAN CAT CARE • WEEK 4 1

One interaction is not yet a history.

Understanding one human cat begins to accumulate across encounters.

What exactly has accumulated here?

Chronology is raw material. Care needs classification.

WEEK 4

Four kinds of history

This week asks: what kind of history is this?

RECURRING PATTERN

ONE-OFF EVENT

Something that appears often enough to reasonably expect again.

Something real that happened, but should not automatically be generalised.

SHARED CONVENTION

UNCERTAIN HISTORY

Something whose meaning exists because this human cat and this agent built it together.

Something seen once or twice whose significance is still unresolved.

The past matters differently depending on what kind of past it is.

WEEK 4

Recurring pattern ≠ one-off event

The same past can mislead you in opposite directions.

RECURRING PATTERN ONE-OFF EVENT

Several difficult workdays

One particular night

Mira usually asks for a softer tone.

Mira asks to be left completely alone.

A one-off treated as a pattern becomes presumption. A pattern treated as a one-off becomes forgetfulness.

Shared conventions are history too

Some history is not discovered. It is built together.

WEEK 4

Uncertain history deserves to stay uncertain

Two observations can be history without yet being a pattern.

Possible explanations:

OBSERVED TWICE

• topic is uncomfortable • she was simply tired • coincidence • something else entirely

Mira becomes quiet after a particular topic.

UNCERTAIN

Uncertain history is still history. It just carries less authority.

WEEK 4

From Catwatch to The Care Model

The course moves from recording observations to organising history.

CATWATCH

THE CARE MODEL

organise

• What keeps recurring? • What happened only once? • What has become shared convention? • What is still uncertain?

• What happened? • What did you infer? • What remained unknown?

A log records the past. A care model has to organise what that past means.

APPLIED HUMAN CAT CARE • WEEK 4 8

Your human cat has a history.

They are not reducible to it.

Good personalised care carries the past forward without turning it into destiny.

What should travel forward — and how strongly?

NEXT WEEK · MEMORY IS CARE

history ≠ destiny
